The “Estações Náuticas de Portugal” Network currently has 16 certified territories and one in the final stages of certification, on the mainland, distributed by the coast and inland, with the involvement of 52 municipalities and 4 Intermunicipal Communities, with over 680 partners, of which over 60% are companies. By the end of 2019, the NPS Network will grow with the certification of new territories, mobilising more than 800 entities.

The applications submitted during the 3rd phase will follow the same evaluation process, with the moment of certification still to be defined.
As the certifying body of Nautical Stations in Portugal, Fórum Oceano has defined a monitoring plan for the NPOs, which includes actions such as monitoring visits of the Evaluation Commission to the certified territories, as well as the survey of training needs, for the organization of training sessions for the actors involved in the Nautical Stations. Over the next few weeks, the Evaluation Commission will follow up on its tour of the Nautical Stations in Portugal, which started at the end of June.
It is recalled that Portugal’s Nautical Stations are part of Geographic Information System of Tourism (SIGTUR) of the Portuguese Tourism Board. The ENP Network is also part of the European network coordinated by FEDETON, of which Fórum Oceano is an active member.

Fórum Oceano receives 17 applications for certification of Nautical Stations
In the first application phase for the certification of Nautical Stations of Portugal (ENP), which ended on June 30th, Fórum Oceano received 17 applications, involving coastal and inland areas, from north to south of the country, cross-border regions, around the Sea, marinas and marinas, rivers, reservoirs, dams, rivers and river beaches.

The number and diversity of applications reflects the capacity of mobilisation and involvement of the territories in this certification process, foreseeing the constitution of a wide network of Nautical Stations, in a model that implies the existence of a Coordinating Body and a Nautical Station Council, a true local/regional forum for the participative strategic development of the ENP.
The applications will now be submitted to the Evaluation Committee, composed by a group of entities representing the central and local public administration, maritime-tourism operators, and other representative entities of the sector.
