THE WAY IS MADE BY SAILING!
The MARITIME ROUTE OF SANTIAGO IN PORTUGAL project aims to recreate, on the Portuguese coast, the journey of the “Stone Boat” which, according to legend, in the year 40 of the first millennium transported the body of the pilgrim Saint from Jaffa in Palestine to Campus Stella in Galicia.
Fórum Oceano and UPSTREAM Portugal are leading the initiative, establishing a partnership to achieve this intention through a mobilizing project that promotes Nautical Tourism and the Network of Nautical Stations in an innovative and sustainable way, and that contributes to the diversification of the tourism offer, to the reduction of seasonality, to the qualification of services and infrastructures and to territorial cohesion and the development of cross-border partnerships, in total harmony with the National Strategy for the Sea 2021-2030.
This project also aims to contribute to encourage the development of other similar projects, of Iberian and Mediterranean scope, namely the one which, with a universal dimension, may institute a Cultural Itinerary that recreates the globality of the maritime route associated to the myth of the sea voyage of the body of St. James the Apostle.

Apresentação oficial do primeiro “Caminho Marítimo de Santiago”
Novo percurso, a realizar a vela, foi criado em parceria pela Upstream Portugal e pelo Fórum Oceano. Viagem inaugural arranca a 28 de maio. O Caminho náutico – composto por nove etapas, em Portugal – terá início em Vila Real de Santo António e o itinerário prevê paragens nos portos de Vilamoura, Lagos, Sines, Cascais, Peniche/Nazaré, Ria de Aveiro, Leixões e Viana do Castelo.
“Caminho Marítimo de Santiago” recebe o alto patrocínio da Presidência da República
O novo e primeiro “Caminho Marítimo de Santiago” acaba de receber o alto patrocínio da Presidência da República. Com um total de 500 milhas náuticas, o caminho que liga o porto de Vila Real de Santo António ao de Vila Garcia de Arousa, em Espanha será realizado por vela e convida os “viajantes nautas” a navegar entre os locais que estão historicamente associados ao culto e à Ordem de Santiago.
